Experimental Optics, Photonics, or Fiber Optic Sensing
Tenure-Track

The Physics Department at California State University, Fullerton is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning August, 2008.

Position
The department offers both B.S. and M.S. degrees and is seeking an experimental physicist with research specialties in optics and related fields including light-matter interactions, photonics and nanophotonics, high sensitivity/precision optical measurements, fiber optic sensing, guided wave optics, photonic crystal fibers, and optical data storage. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an active, externally-funded research program involving undergraduate and Master's level students. Qualification

  • A Ph.D. in physics and a minimum of one year of postdoctoral experience (two years preferred) is required
  • Candidates must also indicate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching a diverse population of students and to curriculum development at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Prior teaching experience is desirable.

Rank & Salary
The position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure-track. Salary is highly competitive and commensurate with rank, experience, and qualifications. Limited startup funds are available.
