Statistics
Tenure Track
Position
Applications are invited for at least one tenure-track position
in statistics. Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor
although appointment at Associate Professor will be considered for
candidates with exceptional qualifications. The position calls for
a broadly based individual with interest or experience in statistical
applications and research. Teaching responsibilities will include
both theoretical and applied statistics courses at the undergraduate
and Master's level. Curriculum development in these areas is encouraged.
Teaching may also include courses in the core mathematics curriculum,
depending on background and interest.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in Statistics or related field is required by the appointment
date.
- Applicants should have high potential in teaching and in research
with excellent communication skills, and familiarity with modern
statistical methods and computing.
- Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated excellence
in teaching and in research.
- Experience and/or interest in undergraduate research is considered
favorably.
Department
CSU Fullerton, located in Orange County in Southern California,
is one of the largest campuses in the California State University
system. It is largely a commuter campus with a diverse student body
The Department has 33 full time faculty members and offers undergraduate
degree programs in statistics, pure and applied mathematics, and
teaching mathematics. The graduate program includes Master's degrees
in Applied Mathematics with industrial applications, and in Teaching
Mathematics. Expansion of graduate course offerings in statistics
is planned. We have modern computing facilities for faculty and
students. Some of our faculty research areas of interest are mathematical
statistics, applied statistics, and statistical computing, as well
as differential equations, optimization, mathematical physics, and
mathematics education. Although teaching is highly valued, substantial
research productivity is also expected and is well supported by
the department.

This is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor,
although appointment at Associate Professor will be considered for
candidates with exceptional qualifications. Salary is competitive
