Hydrogeochemist
Tenure Track
Position
The Department of Geological Sciences at California State University
Fullerton invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professorship
that will begin August 2008. The successful candidate is expected
to develop an active, field-based, externally-funded research program
in Hydrogeochemistry involving undergraduate and Master's students.
Teaching responsibilities will include general education classes
(e.g., oceanography, physical geology) and upper-division/graduate
courses (e.g., aqueous geochemistry and/or contaminant transport,
hydrogeology/hydrology) in the candidate's field of expertise. The
department places a strong emphasis on field-based instruction in
all class offerings.
Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in Geological Sciences is required at the time of appointment.
- Must be committed to excellence in teaching the diverse student
population at CSU Fullerton.
- Must have ability to teach introductory courses as well as academic
preparation to teach courses in field of specialization.
- Evidence of field-based research.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide and diverse range of
students and faculty.

The Department currently has approximately 80 undergraduate majors,
25 MS students and 12 full-time faculty. Fullerton's location offers
convenient access to coastal, mountain, and desert environments,
providing many opportunities for field-based research and instruction.

Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Environmental Studies Program.
