Chemical Education
Tenure-Track
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications
for a tenure-track position in Chemical Education, preferably at
the Assistant Professor level.
Position
Successful candidates must be committed to excellence in teaching.
Primary teaching responsibilities will be in the lecture and laboratory
courses of the chemistry or biochemistry discipline at the undergraduate
level and in graduate courses with an opportunity to teach graduate
courses in the Science Education Program for the Master of Arts
in Teaching Science (MAT-S) degree. Faculty are expected to develop
a vigorous research program involving undergraduate and graduate
(MS or MAT-S) students that attracts external funding and leads
to refereed publications.
Qualifications
- Applicants must have a Ph.D. in chemistry/biochemistry or in
chemical education, and post-doctoral or equivalent research experience
in chemical education.
- Research interests in all areas of chemical education will be
considered, but preference will be given to candidates whose research
interests complement those of faculty in chemistry and biochemistry
(see Web site, http://chemsrvr2.fullerton.edu).
A willingness to engage in collaborative research in related fields
is desirable.
- Applicants must be able to teach lecture and laboratory courses
in chemistry or biochemistry disciplines. Successful candidates
will have teaching experience; preference will be given to applicants
who have demonstrated a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate
and master's levels.
- Applicants must have the ability to communicate effectively
with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.

Preferably, the position will be filled at the rank of Assistant
Professor, tenure-track. Salary and startup are competitive and
commensurate with rank, experience and qualifications. An excellent

The Department
The Department has long been committed to an educational program
that includes extensive involvement of undergraduate and graduate
students in faculty-guided research. A variety of modern, research-grade
instruments and facilities is available in the Department and across
the campus. Departmental extramural funding is in excess of $1 million
per year. We have active research grants from a variety of agencies.
