The California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) invites applications for anticipated tenure track positions at the level of Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department with the possibility of starting in the Fall 2012 semester. Candidates with research focus in all areas in mechanical engineering are encouraged to apply.
Surrounded by high tech industry and a diverse community, CSUF is an urban university located in Orange County in southern California. Position
The faculty member will:
- Contribute towards the fulfillment of the department’s aspiration to innovate and establish as the premier mechanical engineering program in the region.
- Teach a broad range of mechanical engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Establish and provide leadership for laboratory courses.
- Advise both undergraduate and graduate students.
- Perform research in the areas of expertise of the candidate(s) that meet the needs of the department and college.
- Serve on department, college and university committees.
Positive tenure and promotion decisions require excellence in teaching, research, refereed publications, and active participation in the university and the profession.
Qualifications
- An earned Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Strong preference will be given to those who already have their degrees, or will have their degrees, by no later than August 15, 2012.
- Ability to teach a broad range of undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering courses.
- Keen interest or experience in teaching and developing laboratory courses.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Evidence of strong research efforts evidenced by publication or grant activity.
- Potential to develop an active research that leads to externally funded research and publications in accord with department interest.
- Willingness to contribute to the mission of the Mechanical Engineering Department, College of Engineering and Computer Science and the University.
- Ability to work successfully with a wide and culturally diverse range of students and faculty.

Rank & Salary
These are tenure-track positions preferably at the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary is competitive and consistent with starting levels of that rank. Faculty may also apply for intramural grants to do research during the summer months.
