The faculty of the Educational Leadership Department invites applications from or nominations of individuals for an Assistant or Associate Professor rank position in a new and dynamic higher education graduate program focusing on higher education/student affairs at the master’s level and community college leadership at the doctoral level. We are seeking a faculty member with strong skills in quantitative research and experience in using a mixed methods approach in educational research. The Department offers an Ed.D. specialization in P-12 Leadership and Community College Leadership, the Master of Science degree and the Preliminary and Professional Administrative Credential and MS with a concentration in Higher Education. Students are enrolled in the higher education programs exclusively in cohorts and the program has a strong theory to practice, reflective practitioner orientation. Students are usually working practitioners and attend classes in the evenings. In excess of 200 students are usually enrolled in these programs primarily from a variety of school districts, colleges and universities in Southern California. The educational programs of the School are NCATE accredited and meet the CAS standards.
Position
Faculty teach master’s and doctoral courses, provide academic advisement and support doctoral and masters students through the graduate process including thesis/dissertation preparation/review, participate in department/University service, collaborate with colleagues to conduct program/course planning and revision, and engage in scholarly endeavors.
Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- An earned doctorate in education or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community and be committed to the preparation of graduates to meet the needs of the diverse populations of Southern California
- Leadership experience in higher education settings, with a preference for student affairs administration or community college leadership
- Demonstrated ability to teach master’s and doctoral level courses offered by the department
- Demonstrated ability to advise and support master’s and doctoral students through the graduate process
- Demonstrated ability to plan and carryout a research agenda
- Expertise in several of the focus areas for courses taught in the department
- Teaching and research experience addressing higher education issues in two and/or four year institutions or teaching and research experience addressing issues of access and equity within community colleges/higher education
- Teaching experience using technology
Desired Experience/Abilities
- Teaching higher education/student affairs and community college leadership graduate level courses
- Interdisciplinary orientation to higher education instruction at the graduate level
- Successful experience teaching online
Rank & Salary
This is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. Salary is competitive and commensurate to rank, experience and qualifications. Periodic salary adjustments are enacted by the state legislature.
