Tenure Track
The California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) invites applications for an anticipated tenure track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department starting August 2012 or earlier. We are looking for an outstanding faculty candidate from one of the Civil Engineering focal areas: Transportation/Hydrology/Environmental/Construction/Structures.

Position
Faculty member will:
- regularly teach all levels of civil engineering courses and occasionally teach courses in related areas;
- establish and provide leadership for laboratories;
- advise students;
- perform research in the areas of expertise of the candidate that meet the needs of the department; and
- serve on department and university committees.
Positive tenure and promotion decisions require excellent teaching, research, refereed publications, and active participation in the university and the profession.
Qualifications
- An earned undergraduate degree in the area of civil engineering with appropriate emphasis is necessary.
- An earned Ph.D. in Civil Engineering is required by the time the candidate commences work.
- Good analytical skills, field experience and professional license are highly desirable. The person is expected to acquire the PE license within five years of the hire if he or she does not have it already.
- All candidates must be able to support undergraduate teaching needs in areas such as structural, geotechnical, hydraulics, environmental, construction, surveying and land development, transportation and architectural engineering.
- Must have background to teach laboratory and graduate courses as well as engage in research in their own subspecialty.
- Faculty members are expected to be team players willing to contribute to the mission of the Civil and Environmental Department, College of Engineering and Computer Science and the University.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students and faculty.
- Must have proven record of doing research in civil and environmental engineering and be able to carry out future research.

Rank & Salary
This is a tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary is competitive consistent with starting level at the assistant professor rank. Faculty may also apply for intramural grants to do research during summer months.
