Women’s Studies
Tenure-Track

The Women’s Studies program at California State University, Fullerton invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Women’s Studies with a disciplinary background in the Humanities. Priority will be given to candidates with special interest in queer studies, cultural studies, and/or intellectual history.

Position
Main responsibilities of this position are to develop and teach introductory and core Women’s Studies courses. Department faculty also have opportunities to develop courses in their areas of specialization.  The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to and participate in the life and development of the program, advise students, serve on academic committees, and participate in the broader disciplinary community.

Positive tenure and promotion decisions require excellent teaching as well as research, peer-reviewed publication, and service at the departmental, College and University level.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. by the time of appointment
  • Essential criteria include a background and research specialization in Women’s Studies, and experience with feminist methodology.
  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching of a very diverse range of students, often first-generation student population.
  • A strong record of scholarly accomplishments appropriate to the level of appointment, and experience in working collaboratively with colleagues and community is expected.
  • The individual should also be familiar with and have an interest in developing innovative technology skills to use in teaching.

Rank and Salary
The position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track). Salary is highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. CSU Fullerton operates on a semester system that enables faculty to teach in January and/or during the summer for additional salary. Faculty may also apply for intramural grants to do research during those months.
