German/German Studies
Lecturer - Non Tenure-Track
The Department of Modern Languages & Literatures at California
State University, Fullerton, invites applications for a full-time
Lecturer position (non-tenure-track) in German/German Studies for
the Academic Year 2008-2009. This appointment may be renewed for
one or more additional years.
Position
The position of Lecturer in German and German Studies includes the
following duties:
- Teaching a 12-unit load per semester with some committee or
administrative duties.
- Providing assistance in the administration of the German program;
- Helping support a learning community (e.g., cultural events,
club activities, film series);
- Developing recruitment and outreach activities for the German
program;
- Advising students.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in German/German Studies or a related field is strongly
preferred. ABD-level candidates will be considered. If ABD, please
have your dissertation chair provide a letter indicating your
progress to date and detailing a timeline to completion.
- Native or near-native proficiency in German.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the post-secondary level
and ability to teach courses in German language, culture, linguistics,
and literature.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse
range of students and faculty.
- Experience in teaching business German is desirable.
- The ability to teach in the foreign language education program
or in another language area in the department (such as Arabic,
French, Japanese, Persian, or Spanish) is also desirable.
Rank and Salary
This is a non tenure-track, one-year appointment at the rank of
Lecturer. The appointment may be renewed for one or more additional
years. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications
and experience and subject to budgetary authorization and any California
State University System faculty contract increases. An excellent
