Lecturer Positions

The California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) invites applications for two full-time lecturer positions in the Mechanical Engineering Department, preferably starting in August 2008. CSUF is an urban university located in Orange County, surrounded by high-technology industry and a diverse community. The department's instructional programs lead to Bachelor's and Master's degrees. Position
Full-time lecturer candidates are expected to teach mechanical engineering courses plus selected electives consistent with background and experience. Other duties include academic advising, curriculum development, and departmental services as needed.

Qualifications

  • Applicants with Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering are preferred. The next priority will be for those who are currently pursuing a doctoral program and are nearing completion. The minimum qualification is an MS degree in mechanical engineering with strong evidence of education related contemporary issues in technical education and pedagogy. Industrial experience will be a valued addition.
  • All sub-specializations within mechanical engineering will be considered. Preference will be given to areas such as controls, robotic, and automated manufacturing.
  • Strong laboratory and design skills in a multidisciplinary environment will be a definite plus.
  • Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence; excellent communication skills; dedication to continued professional development and scholarship; and a broad-based knowledge of mechanical engineering.
  • Candidates must show the ability to work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students and faculty.

Rank and Salary
The positions announced here are non tenure-track positions as Lecturers. The contract is for one year, and it may be renewed for additional years subject to the performance review at the end of the first year. All appointments are subject to availability of budget allocations for 2008-09. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
