Diversity & Equity Programs

The Office of Diversity and Equity Programs guides, directs, and assists the administration and the faculty to ensure fair and equal treatment of all individuals in the various institutional processes which affect education and employment by enforcing all federal/state laws and regulations as well as university policies and procedures related to civil rights, affirmative action, and non-discrimination.

Specific responsibilities include the following:

  1. Make policy recommendations that enhance the University's commitment to affirmative action and equal opportunity.
  2. Coordinate Faculty Recruitment and provide counsel to departments on the recruitment of a diverse faculty as well as training for search committees on recruitment strategies and campus procedures.
  3. Receive, evaluate and investigate discrimination and harassment complaints filed by students, faculty, staff, vendors, applicants for admission and employment.
  4. Serve as the University’s Title IX Coordinator in collaboration the Deputy Title IX Coordinators in Athletics and Sexual Assault Prevention & Services to promote gender equity.
  5. Serve as the primary ADA Compliance Officer for the University, provide accommodation services to employees with disabilities.
  6. Increase awareness of the benefits and campus equity services provided through these laws including publicizing policies and complaint resolution procedures, providing training on anti-discrimination matters, sexual harassment and diversity awareness, and serve as a resource to facilitate conflict resolution.
  7. Act as management liaison to governmental enforcement agencies and minority community groups and organizations.
  8. Development of annual Affirmative Action Plans.
