Scriptwriting for Film/TV/Radio
Tenure Track

Position
The Department of Radio-TV-Film seeks a tenure-track faculty member with specialization in scriptwriting for film, television, and video. The successful candidate may teach courses in story structure, screenwriting, comedy and episodic writing, and other relevant subjects. The candidate will also conduct scholarly and creative activity in a chosen specialty, advise students, and perform department, university, and community service.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a PhD (or current ABD status) or an MFA in screenwriting, film-video-TV, communication, or a related field.
  • Preference is given to those with a record of college teaching, scholarly-creative activity, and professional experience, as well as to those who can teach in more than one area in radio, television, and film.
  • Candidates must be familiar with recognized best practices in teaching and have an interest in using and developing innovative instructional technologies.
  • Candidates must also be able to interact effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students and colleagues.

Rank & Salary
This is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary is competitive and commensurate with rank, experience and qualifications. Periodic salary adjustments are enacted by the state legislature. The Department of Radio-TV-Film at Cal State Fullerton offers a comprehensive and active learning environment to prepare students for meaningful careers in radio, television, and film. Additionally, the program prepares students for graduate study in the broader areas of media and communication. RTVF is part of the College of Communications and serves over 600 majors and 60 minors.
