Journalism
Tenure Track

Position
We are seeking a person to serve as the Daily Titan print and online media adviser. In addition to advising print and online version of the student newspaper, the successful candidate will teach journalism classes and develop new courses in online journalism at one of the largest communication departments in the nation. In addition the position will require scholarly research and academic advisement to students in the journalism concentration. The course load is 4/4 with the possibility of some release time. Assignment to one or more courses housed at CSUF-Irvine, our satellite campus, is a possible condition of employment.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a Ph.D. in communications or a terminal degree in a related field;
  • 5+ years of professional journalism and online media experience are required.
  • Appropriate background and ability to teach other mass communication courses (particularly media history or media law) will be considered a plus.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students and faculty.

Rank & Salary
This is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary is competitive and commensurate to rank, experience and qualifications. Periodic salary adjustments are enacted by the state legislature. Additional teaching in summer is often available.
