Tenure Track Positions

The Department of Information Systems and Decision Sciences seeks candidates for two tenure track faculty positions - one each in Information Systems and Operations Research.

Position
The Department is seeking faculty who have a strong, on-going commitment to research and publication in high-quality journals and who are innovative teachers with strong instructional-computer skills, and are interested in the University, its students, curriculum and teaching methodologies. At the same time the Department seeks dynamic and collaborative individuals who will contribute to the mission of the Department, to the College's AACSB accredited programs and the University.

Faculty members regularly teach all levels of courses for majors and non-majors, advise students, serve on academic committees and contribute to Department and University governance. Tenure-track faculty are expected to teach from six to twelve hours each semester depending on their research productivity. Positive tenure and promotion decisions require excellent teaching, research, refereed publishing, and participation in the university and the profession.

Qualifications

  • To be considered for a tenure track position, a candidate must have a Ph.D. in Information Systems, Operations Research or a related field.
  • Experience as an effective teacher, conducting high quality research, and good communication skills are required.
  • Evidence or promise for successful research and scholarly publication is essential.
  • Experience in applying technological innovations to promote classroom learning is highly desirable.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students and colleagues.

Rank is open. Salary is competitive, commensurate with rank, qualifications and experience. Research grants and additional teaching in summer or intersession are typically available. The Department
The Department currently has a distinguished faculty of dynamic and innovative members specializing in the three areas of Information Systems, Statistics, and Operation Research. It offers two concentrations in the undergraduate business degree and MBA programs as well as two specialized Masters degrees. Many faculty members' research specialization is in one area, but teach courses in more than one of these three areas. The Department currently offers a core course, required by all business majors, in each of these three areas. In terms of research, the Department has received national and international distinction through faculty members' numerous publications, presentations at professional meetings and service as journal editors, associate editors and membership on editorial boards. It was recently ranked as being among the top 36 in the nation in research productivity in INFORMS journals. The College
The College of Business & Economics is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) at both the undergraduate and masters levels. The College of Business and Economics is the third largest AACSB accredited business school in the U.S. There are over 150 full-time faculty members and 8,000 students, including more than 500 graduate students. The Bachelor of Arts degree is offered in Economics, International Business and in Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting, Business Economics, Entertainment and Tourism, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management, Management Science, Information Systems (IS), and Marketing.
