Dance - Generalist
Tenure Track
The Dance Program at California State University, Fullerton currently
offers a BA in Dance within the Department of Theatre & Dance's
highly rated, active and extensive performance and production program.
There are 5 full-time and 8 adjunct professors who train nearly
150 dance majors. The Dance Program offers multiple performing opportunities
such as Fall/Spring Dance Theatre, Fall/Spring Choreographer's Showcase,
12x16 at Grand Central and musicals. The Dance Program is fully
accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance. The
Department of Theatre and Dance, itself has over 500 graduate and
undergraduate students. The faculty consists of 26 full-time and
approximately 35 part-time instructors. It offers a BA in Theatre
Arts and a BA in Dance, a BFA in Musical Theatre, and MFA degrees
in Acting, Directing and Design.
Position
The Department of Theatre and Dance at California State University,
Fullerton seeks an outstanding individual to teach in the undergraduate
dance program. The successful candidate will teach lecture courses
in the areas including World Dance, Dance History, Theory and Criticism.
Additional expertise in Dance for Children, Ballet and/or Modern
technique is desirable. Participation in the departmental, college
and university academic structure (i.e. committees, advising, etc.)
as well as in external educational organizational and recruitment
activities will be expected.
Qualifications
- MFA is required with other graduate degree and/or substantial
professional experience.
- Must provide evidence of effective teaching.
- Strong evidence of successful university and/or equivalent professional
experience in areas listed above are required.
- Publishing experience is desirable.
- Ability to interact effectively with a wide and culturally diverse
range of students and colleagues is essential.

Rank & Salary
This position is at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure-track.
Salary is competitive and commensurate to rank, experience and qualifications.
Periodic salary adjustments are enacted by the state legislature.
